YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas receives $10,000 MassMutual Foundation Grant

06/22/2018

University Park, Texas -The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas has received a $10,000 grant from the MassMutual Foundation as part of a national Community Service Award (CSA) program.  YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is one of twenty-two organizations nationally to receive an award.  The MassMutual Foundation made the grant as a tribute to the volunteer efforts of Daniel J. Drabinski, a MassMutual agent with MassMutual Dallas-Fort Worth in Dallas, Texas.

“We are stronger when we come together as a community, and our Community Service Awards program recognizes a group of MassMutual financial professionals who embody this spirit, working with members of their respective neighborhoods, towns and cities, helping nonprofits with which they are involved grow and thrive,” said Dennis Duquette, Head of MassMutual Community Responsibility and President of the MassMutual Foundation.  “We are proud of the time and energy Dan Drabinski dedicates to better his community and are delighted to support the great work MassMutual financial professionals do with organizations across the country.”

The mission of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is to put Christian values principles into practice through programs that help healthy spirit, mind and body for all.  In addition to serving as the home of the Ashford Rise School of Dallas, the only Special Needs preschool in the local area, the YMCA provides an essential source of programs for the Active Older Adult community, serves as a central outreach for youth within the area, and offers an unparalleled reach throughout Dallas.

Moody Family YMCA Director William Lees commented, “today in North Texas, people of all ages and backgrounds are struggling to reach their full potential.  More and more children face seemingly insurmountable learning gaps.  Families find it difficult to spend quality time together.  Playing outside has become a rarity.  Face time happens through a phone.  And instead of seeing the income gap shrink, it seems all we do is watch it grow.  But where society falls short, the Y – and donors like MassMutual – step in.  Together we make a difference in the lives of thousands of people and a huge impact on each individual we serve”.

According to MassMutual Dallas-Fort Worth General Agent Jason Bach, Dan Drabinski has been with MassMutual Dallas-Fort Worth for four years.  Per Bach, “Dan has been committed to the Board of Management of the Moody Family YMCA in of the Park Cities since 2015 and has dedicated countless hours of time and talent to help the organization grow and flourish.  We are proud of his commitment to our community”.

“I am very honored and humbled that my dedication to the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas has been recognized by the MassMutual Foundation,” said Drabinski.  “This grant will provide much needed funding to continue supporting our community through youth scholarships, the Safety Around Water program and the Active Older Adult initiatives.  I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to serve.”
